Course Objective:Students will explore and develop a knowledge base for the repeated patterns that exist in the mythology of various world cultures as they compare those cultures to their own, building a global acceptance of others. Students will study basic mythological themes such as cosmogony, deluge, afterlife, apocalypse, and the trickster. Studying mythology will heighten students' understanding of language & history, will increase their appreciation of literature & art by building a knowledge base of mythological allusions, and will help students think analytically about modern culture by analyzing the traces that ancient societies have left behind. This course will include a unit on Norse mythology--the forefathers of our modern English language. Oklahoma E/LA Academic Standards will be incorporated into each unit.

Grading Procedures: Grades will be converted into a percentage according to the total number of points earned and the categories' weight. Categories include:
